As fellow stitches/crafters/people-looking-for creative-outlet, I hope you understand my tardiness on this post! Last night I got very wrapped up in fixing the bottom left corner of my Once Upon A Time Sampler. I had mis-stitched by one stitch. I did not discover my mistake until I was close to joining two sections of border and they did not line up. After about 15 minutes of counting and recounting I found the problem. This led to about 50 stitches having to come out and be perfected. Now it is fixed and I have almost completed the bottom half of border. My plan next is to work on the top half and finally start stitching Snow White. In order to keep calm, I've been watching Season 1 of Once. Love it!
I have been working steadily on my Woodland Sampler by stitching a month each week. I finished September and hope to work on October next week.
Other projects have not been fitting into my days so that is all for updates.
For a little bit about me...
I like to create and play! There are adventures with my friends and husband that I get way too excited about: Climbing mountains, running races, roadside attractions, brewery tours, kayaking, visiting the beach, dress up parties, and just about anything else we can fit in. My husband and I are also avid golfers which I have found greatly cuts into my creative time, however, I am hooked! Stitching is something that I have found that let's me relax between all of our crazy ideas. Other relaxing outlets include reading and knitting. I have attempted quilting and have a lovely quilt patiently waiting for a binding...
My home is decorated in a simple quirky prim style. I tend to switch out my finished stitcheries with my mood, highlighting favorites and seasonal pieces.
This year I hope to keep my current initiative and approach December with Christmas gifts made, a shorter list of WIPs, and a scrapbook full of adventures!
Thanks for stopping by,
aj
Your work is just lovely! I used to stitch but knitting is easier on the eyes. Thanks for sharing! Hugs, Terri
ReplyDeleteThank you! I do love to knit, too. There is something about the way yarn feels on the needles...
DeleteGood morning! Visiting from the Grow Your Blog Party. My name is Sandy, and my blog is www.sanderellascrochet.wordpress.com. Your work is lovely!! I understand about having to have things line up for sure....yesterday I was working on cross stitching on my crocheted piece....and I had a whole row I had to remove and begin over! It is what we do to make things perfect! Currently, I am working on a throw and after that a pillow to accent the throw. Come visit sometime! Sandy
ReplyDeleteThanks for the invite! I admire your persistence!
DeleteYour sampler is very nice. I used to cross stitch but my eyes just don't let me anymore :( It is so nice to meet you.
ReplyDeleteNo, I really feel your pain, lol, has happened to me. Love that prim piece, who is the designer?

ReplyDeleteDear AJ,
ReplyDeleteYour work is beautiful!! I used to cross-stitch, but I think I'd need buy a magnifying glass if I were to continue. I do a lot of knitting though and that I love!
Greetings from Savannah! xo Silke
Love you cross-stitch. I've replaced mine with making art quilts and sketching.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
You have some beautiful cross stitch in the works!
ReplyDeleteHi AJ, coming over for a visit from "GYBP'. WOW, what an adorable woodland sampler, can't wait to see it finished. I used to cross-stitch but a full time job and a new addiction kind of took over. Thanks for sharing your blog!

Hate it when I make a mistake with cross-stitch which seems to happen more now than it used to. My eyes are a bit older. :) Love that sampler! I tend to stick with small projects now and find that crochet is a whole lot quicker and easier to travel with. Sounds like you have a full and wonderful life. Best wishes, Tammy
ReplyDeleteP.S. You should think about putting a regular Google follower button in your sidebar as not everyone has Google+
ReplyDeleteI have been fussing with my gadgets all day - trying to figure out which is which! thanks for visiting and the feedback!
DeleteHi am so happy to meet you. Your stitching is beautiful. I started out cross stitching years ago when my children were little and now am teaching my grandchildren to stitch. It is such a relaxing way to wind down.
ReplyDeleteI just finished my first cross stitch project a short while ago - I usually do hand embroidery - and I love the projects you've shown here! I'm you're newest follower now! Chrissie x

ReplyDeleteIt is lovely to meet you!
Love those woodland animals.

ReplyDeleteCute little critters in your stitching! LOVE the hedgies in September! Sorry to hear about your missed stich - bummer. We like brewery tours too! I used to work at a small brewery, so its fun to see others. We also really want to do Jack Daniels, bet that'd be cool.
ReplyDeleteOh what beautiful cross stichery!
ReplyDeleteMy name is Suzy and I am here visiting you on behalf of Vicki as a volunteer to Grow Your Blog Party! I am sure Vicki will eventually visit but there are hundreds of blogs for her to visit so we are here to welcome you.
You have such an interesting, busy and varied life on top of your teaching career and it is wonderful that you bring such balance into your life with quiet stitching!
I wish you every success with your new blog and wishing many friendships to grow from this.
All the best,
Suzy
AJ,
ReplyDeleteLove your stitchery! I hate it when I mess up and have to take out! And I have messed up badly enough to have to just start ovver a few times. The problem is, I really have a hard time finishing the second version. I noly have one of those I need to begin again, but the first experience was so bad, I can hardly think about it! Maybe I will just move on!
have a great GYB Party! see you soo!
Hugs,
Betsy
Beautiful stitch work. You do an awesome job.

So glad I found your blog through Vicki's GYB party. love your cross stitch projects
ReplyDeleteAlisa- Your Woodland Sampler is precious! Love it! Please stop by my blog as I have a great giveaway going on.:) Lori
ReplyDeleteYears ago I cross stitched a Monopoly board for my brother. My SIL decided that she too wanted to do one. She did hers on a much larger count. Then her twin sister decided she wanted to do one. I never saw her twin's but heard that when she got to a corner, it didn't line up AND she left it. And she did it on consignment. I could not believe it. Your work is beautiful. You have a great idea to get to December with Christmas presents made. In addition to cross stitch, I enjoy knitting and quilting among other crafts. I'm glad you are growing your blog.
ReplyDeleteHello from Yukon! I hope you're enjoying this party as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteEvalina, This and that...
Hi there AJ

Thanks again for joining the party!

ReplyDeleteI love cross stitch too!! Sorry, I had to get that out. I am making my way slowly down the list of GYB participants, and wanted to say hi!
ReplyDeleteYour stitcheries are lovely. Every little thread telling a story when stitched together. Creative Bliss...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful embroideries! You really have some talent and you have some wonderful goals for the year! I hope you finish your quilt too (adding binding can be done by hand to finish - which can kind of be like embroidery!)
ReplyDeleteElise @ http://loveleadesigns.blogspot.com/
I am here with the GYB party, too. Your embroidery is beautiful! I am more a knitter and crocheter but have done some cross stitiching in the past and even have two kits at home, a small one, a lavender field, and a large VanGogh picture, complete with frame. I think I should get it out after having finished some of my knit WIPs...
ReplyDeletePerhaps you might check out my blog, too? Would be pleased to welcome you!
